For educators and students
A teleprompter for teachers and students
Give a lecture, present a project, or record an assignment without losing your place. VocalScroll follows your voice and waits when you stop to think.
VocalScroll is a voice-activated teleprompter that teachers and students can use to deliver a lecture, a presentation, or a spoken assignment without losing their place. Paste your notes, press start, and read aloud. The text follows your voice and holds when you pause to think or answer a question. You can add named sections to a long script, then jump between them from the Rundown. With recording on, VocalScroll saves the session to your own device, so you can play back a lesson, check your pacing, or hand in a recording. It reads scripts in 23 languages, which makes it useful for language classes and for practicing a talk in a second language. There is no account to create and no cost. Your scripts and recordings stay on your device, and you can install the app on a laptop or an Android phone.
How classes use it
Recorded lessons
Read from lesson notes while looking at the camera, and keep the take on your device.
Student presentations
Practice a talk at your own pace, with sections you can jump between.
Language practice
Read aloud in any of 23 languages and see the text keep up as you read.
Spoken assignments
Record a response, play it back, and re-record until it is ready to hand in.
Questions from teachers and students
Does it cost anything?
No. There are no fees, trials, or paywalled features, and you do not need an account or an email address.
Where do recordings go?
They stay on the device you recorded on, in the browser's storage. VocalScroll does not upload them. Export a recording to share it.
Does it work on a school laptop?
It runs in a current browser (Chrome or Edge are recommended) with no install needed. The first time you use a language it downloads that language's speech model, so the first session needs a connection.
Can I use it for a language class?
Yes. VocalScroll recognizes 23 languages. Pick the spoken language in Settings before you start.
