Repurposing Video Content: Turn Long YouTube Scripts into Shorts
Good content takes time. If you publish one long YouTube video a week, you can cut it into short vertical clips for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts and reach more people with the same work.
Write your long scripts with the vertical hooks built in.
Three steps from long script to Shorts
1. Split your script into micro-chapters
In VocalScroll's Studio, split your script into self-contained segments of about 60 seconds. Start a segment's title line with # and the Rundown lists it as a numbered section you can jump to. Open each segment with a hook and end it with a quick takeaway.
2. Record vertical splits in the prompter
Read one micro-chapter at a time with the voice-activated prompter. Frame the shot vertically, or crop it later.
3. Master, caption and crop
In Takes, pick a voice preset and export the mastered video. If the take has captions, you can burn them into an MP4 or save them as SRT or VTT. Import the files into DaVinci Resolve (free tier) or CapCut, crop them to 9:16, and schedule them across platforms.
