Camera Preview Setup: Managing Browser Camera Permissions

VocalScroll shows your camera in the Studio, either in the Inspector or softly behind the script text, so you can check your delivery and framing while you read.

The browser has to allow camera and microphone access first. This guide covers Chrome, Safari and Firefox.

1. How to grant camera and microphone permissions

When you switch on Camera or press Start for the first time, your browser asks for hardware permissions.

Google Chrome & Microsoft Edge

  1. Click Allow on the permission popup.
  2. If you blocked it, click the camera icon at the right end of the address bar.
  3. Choose Always allow https://vocalscroll.com to access your camera and microphone and reload the page.

Apple Safari (iOS & macOS)

  1. Tap Allow when prompted.
  2. If you blocked it on iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Safari > Camera and choose Allow. On a Mac, open Safari > Settings > Websites > Camera.
  3. Repeat for Microphone.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click Allow and tick Remember this decision.

2. Choosing how the camera shows

Once the camera is on, choose Behind text to see yourself softly behind the script, or Window for a small picture. The same choice is in Settings under Camera and devices, along with a mirror switch that flips only what you see, not the recording. VocalScroll remembers your camera and microphone choices in local browser storage and restores them on reload.

Ready to try it?

Open VocalScroll, paste a script and start speaking. It is free, and your scripts stay on your device.
